The teak used in this antique style bench is reclaimed from old ox-carts and other functional items that have reached the end of their useful working lives. They are then repurposed to great effect.
Hand cut mortice and tenon joints are reinforced with teak dowels for added strength and all pieces are hand finished as well.

The eye-catching lattice-work finish works perfectly with the deeply curved, scrolled arms and the ornate legs cleverly extend as arm supports as well.
Teak naturally has a high oil content and this, combined with a dense grain, reduces the likelihood of cracking or splitting occurring over time.
It also protects the timber against insect attack.
The natural ageing process will lend the timber a silver-grey patina over time which is a much loved characteristic by many people. However, it can be removed on a warm day with mild soapy water and elbow grease, allowing plenty of time to dry.
