Teak has no rival in its suitability for outdoor use due to the abundant presence of natural oils and the dense nature of the grain which mean that it can sit outside all year round and not become susceptible to cracking or splitting.
The natural ageing process will turn the timber a silver-grey colour that is, for many people, the most enduring quality of teak.
However, this is not to everyone’s taste and so the original honey-coloured splendour can be restored quite simply with the use of mild, soapy warm water and a stiff brush. A little elbow grease is also required for this.
